BJ-Gear A/S now handles the manufacturing of NG-Bearings

Growing demands for NG-Bearings are the reason that BJ-Gear A/S has chosen to invest in a high-tech Krauss-Maffei plastic molding machine and a Nakamura-Tome AS-200 CNC-operated lathe with a KUKA robot for loading and unloading. The cell is only intended for the manufacture of the NG series that are used within the food industry.

By handling the production itself, BJ-Gear A/S will meet the increasing focus of the food industry on high quality of hygienic process equipment. ”˜It”™s easier for us to enforce quality and logistics when we ourselves are responsible for the production”™, says Managing Director Flemming Graversgaard.

With their smooth surfaces and rounded corners, the NG-Bearings are specially designed for the demands and standards defined by the food industry for hygiene and load capacity. The bearings are made of the extremely stable and strong material Baydur.

The bearing housings are water proof (IP67), thus the sealing rings encapsulating the grease when it is sprayed into the bearing housings. The grease which is also food approved, ensures that water and cleaning products cannot penetrate the housings. This means that the units can be cleaned directly in the process line and may also be high-pressure cleaned from all directions. The combination of water proof bearings and food approved composite material creates very hygienic bearings, which can be applied directly in food zones without any shielding.

BJ-Gear”™s NG-Bearings are the first on the market having achieved a FDA food grade approval according to regulation 21 CFR 175.300, USDA approval according to NSF/ANSI/3-A 1459-1-2010 standard and finally EU approval according to the Directive ”œEurope Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) no. 1935/2004 of 27th August regarding material and objects intended for food contact”.
